[ezcol_1third] Over the past week we've been taking it easy, alternating days at home with excursions out to the coast and hilltops beyond Brisbane in search of a cooler breeze. Between dips in the pool and ice cream making there's been plenty of time for tucking up in the shadiest parts of the cottage to fiddle with a few crafty projects, like these embroidered maps.

Once I got thinking about it I found that there are so many things to be done with an old map, a needle, and thread! You can stitch the paths along your own treasure hunt, or mark the place for a special picnic date… Put a heart around your hometown, or the place you'd love to make your home… Or why not go really big and plan your next road trip by running your fingers down the highway as you string together town after town?

These maps look lovely mounted in a simple frame, glued to the cover of a greeting card, or just stuck with a magnet to the fridge to remind us of the places we'll go… A perfect note-to-self to seize the new year!
