Last Friday before the Finders Keepers Markets I hosted a small dinner party for a friend who had flown in that evening to visit us from overseas. It was a frantic day and I only had a window of about two hours in the morning to clean the cottage, prep the meal and set the table before whisking The Spring Shop down to The Old Museum to bump in.
It took just about every quick and easy entertaining trick up my sleeve, but the dinner came together without much fuss and hanging out over good food at home that night was just what I needed to calm my nervous energy before the big event. Even in a rush I like to add in a few handmade touches when we entertain, so to create a warm, casual ambience with a bit of twinkle I decorated our table with a scattering of tea lights wrapped with washi tape and white flowers from the corner store arranged in quilted mason jars.
I love how the washi wrapped candles add colour and pattern to a simple table setting, and what's more I know I can make a dozen in way less time than it takes to iron a table cloth.
