A Very Iconic Sydney Night

Yes. I'm talking Opera House. Me at the Sydney Opera House. There are certain things so wonderfully exotic that you can only hope to experience them if you play your life's cards right... you know... things like riding an elephant or visiting the Egyptian pyramids or catching a glimpse of the northern lights. Well ever since I first learned about Australia in grade four social science class (and my wombat project was awarded and A++, just sayin') seeing a real live opera in the real live exotically glamorous Opera House has been right there on my ultimate to-do list. And as you can imagine, all that anticipation made last Friday night's date with The Marriage of Figaro pretty extra special. In order to savour the evening, Mr. Spring and I took a sunset walk through the botanic gardens so we could admire our ultimate destination from across the water before nipping back through the city for a glass of wine and the first aria. The show was magical - beautifully performed, funny, and surprisingly contemporary.  But I couldn't help feeling that the stunning venue with it's breezy balconies and golden harbour views was always going to be the real star of the show. There couldn't be a more perfect setting for a grown-up date night that's all about celebrating how far you've come together.
