If you're in Brisbane this weekend, it's worth looking in on the Lloyd Rees exhibition at the Queensland Art Gallery. Rees was a locally born artist and craftsman most famous for his studies of how light plays in Australian landscapes. Rees' sketches of the city he grew up in and the country-side he loved are utterly charming and just as worthwhile as the larger paintings on display.12 March – 13 June 2011. Admission is free.
