For those of you planing to Irish up your weekend, here’s a salve you may want to keep in mind for after the festivities…
Green beer’s not my thing (do you do green beer in Australia? does anyone think it’s not gross?) but we are big on green juice around The Spring Cottage. What’s great about it is that whether you’ve been ‘eating clean’ or fallen completely off the healthy living wagon, you can feel each glass doing your body and brain a world of good. It tastes nice too. I promise.
green juice recipe + where to get your own glass straw
For those of you who’re curious, my basic recipe for a day’s worth of green juice looks like this:
1/2 bunch of spinach including stalks (or one grocery store bag of leaves) + 2 big carrots + 2 small apples + 1 lemon + 1/2 a cucumber + 2 stalks of celery + 1 beetroot + beet greens + a bit of ginger if it’s around, or some mint.
I make a big batch of green juice every morning, divide it into mason jars, and store it in the fridge throughout the day. Usually I have a jar with each meal (plus the one I foist on Mr. Spring who likes it, but still looks at it suspiciously, like I’m feeding him swamp brew – every time). I also love that it’s transportable packaged in the jars, so when I’m on the go I know I have a healthy pick-me-up to hand.
