embroidered cards{1. To make embroidered cards, first draw or trace a simple image.}

{2. Using your embroidery needle, punch a hole through the pencil line every few centimetres.}

{3. Erase the pencil lines.}

{4. Thread your needle with embroidery floss and push it through a hole from the back of the card. Leave a tail of floss to be secured with a knot so it doesn’t slip through.}

{5. Back-stitch along the path of the punched holes.}

{6. When the embroidered picture is complete, loop the floss through a fixed stitch on the back of the card and knot to secure.}

{7. To finish, paste a bit of thick paper over the back of your card to hide the wrong side of your embroidery & write your message.}

This is such a fun idea! And it gives me a great reason to raid those embroidery floss stands at the fabric store…I’ve been desperately looking for one! I’ve been really interested in embroidery lately, after seeing a couple of great projects done on clothing, but considering I’ve never tried it before, I think this will be a great starter project.

Hope your week is off to a great start! :)

I’m not a neat stitcher and even I couldn’t mess this project up so I know you’ll rock it! Enjoy the embroidery floss aisle!

These are gorgeous! I love homemade cards but as my drawing skills leave a lot to be desired this is right up my alley!
Thanks!

Awe, thanks Liz! I’m not very talented in the drawing department either so you better believe I’m pretty proud of the card too! It really is super easy, I hope you’ll give embroidering one a go and let me know the result!
