Lizzies

Exploring the handful of  markets within walking distance of our Sydney pad is my new favourite Saturday morning ritual. I love that they don’t get started too early – because neither do I – and when I do saunter out at 9am it’s nice knowing I won’t have missed any of the good stuff. My best discovery are the house plant and flower sellers at the Kings Cross Markets. I picked herbs for the balcony (excellent quality at $4 a pot) and these beautiful Lizzies (two enormous bunches for $15) that look as good today as they did when I brought them home a week ago.

Thanks Jas – I hope you’ll come down to Sydney some time soon so we can have a cocktail on the balcony together!!

I love lisianthus, they are so beautiful, especially the green/white and purple ones.

I didn’t even know lisianthus is the proper name… the florist just called them ‘lizzies’! I’ve been on a real white-on-white-on-white kick lately, but purple would be amazing too! Thanks of all your comments – I really appreciate them!

Hi Catherine,

Thanks so much for all of these beautiful posts. I’ve just gotten a job offer in Sydney starting next month and the prospect of moving down is pretty daunting right now. So it’s wonderful to hear how smoothly your move has gone and that you’re loving your new home! On top of that – so many inspirations for places that I’ll need to explore once I’m down there!

Thanks again, Kate x

Hi Kate, Wow! The prospect of such a busy month of moving must be super daunting! But an organised approach (and quite a bit of patience) will see you get through it all no problem! Do you know where you want to live? There are so many cool spots here… not that Brisbane is without interesting things to do… but you’re going to love how much later things are open… I still get the giggles when I walk to the grocery shop after 9pm!

Haha just like when my Sydney-sider boyfriend laughed when I told him that the grocery stores shut here at 5pm on a Saturday!

I’m thinking of trying to find a place in Balmain – it seems like a cool little area! Nice chatting to you and thanks for the tips. Ps. Love the pic of you relaxing in the O’Reillys pool – I’ve always been too much of a wimp to get in there because it’s so freezing. It must be your Canadian blood!

Beautiful flowers! I love things that don’t get started before 9, it lets me enjoy them without being sleep deprived! x
