Flash flooding is the natural enemy of a road trip, but if we had to get stuck somewhere we couldn’t have picked a better appointed (or more hauntingly atmospheric) spot. Today we made our own fun on higher ground, scrambling up the slippery ladders of a tree-top walk, splashing through a bush land botanical garden, and taking it easy in the mountain villa’s bubbling hot spa. Road trip day 2 may not have gone quite according to plan, but this is the best wet-weather holiday I’ve ever had!

Those photos look amazing! So green and lush
Beautiful photos, thanks for sharing with us! xo K
It looks so lovely! I wish I was sitting in a mountain villa spa right now.
I know exactly where you are Catherine and it’s one of my most favourie places on this earth. Went there many a time before kids. Would be very nice with all this rain.

Isn’t it beautiful Anne? I don’t like to say where I am when I’m there (a blogging safety common sense rule, you know what I mean) but since I’ve gone I don’t mind telling you that we were at O’Reilly’s in Lammington National Park and it was SPECTACULAR! Even though the weather was bad, it was still a fabulous couple of days, although from my post tomorrow, you’ll see getting out of there with all this flash flooding wasn’t exactly a piece of cake!

I just read your post Catherine and saw the photos. That drive up the mountain is scary at the best of times let alone without the rain and mud slides. Glad you got back safe. I always went to O’Reilly’s for the June long weekend so always freezing but it never bothered me. The place is beautiful rain, hail or shine. (I actually preferred winter. Gave me an opportunity to sit in front of a roaring fire and sip red wine and port! LOL)
Enjoy the rest of your vacation.

It looks beautiful. The rain seems to add to the magic of it
Oh, I went camping at O’Reilly’s last year and it was fabulous. That must be a wallaby in the second photo, right? I remember there being so many of them there!
A rock wallaby, I was reliably informed by Mr. Spring! It was so beautiful up there, would love to experience O’Reilly’s on a clear day!
