Redback Trading Company Mason Jars

I have a huge crush on mason jars, and I know I’m not the only one. They’re trendy and awesome and always remind me of home. Growing up we had cases of them around the house for making preserves (strawberry and peach every summer!) and for storing big batches of things like soup and stewed apples in winter. (They’re the perfect vessel for reheating leftovers too, because you know putting plastic in the microwave is poisonous, right?) They also make great drinking glasses, lanterns, vases, and come in very handy for organising all kinds of dry goods in the pantry and craft supplies in the cupboard.

I love mason jars so much that within a week of arriving Australia I’d scoured the internet and sourced a couple cases for The Spring Cottage. That’s when I first discovered The Redback Trading Co, an Australian online purveyor of every kind of mason jar (new and vintage), cast iron skillets, preserving supplies, and all manner of other traditional kitchen goodies. Redback’s prices are incredible and they delivered my jars lickety-split from their home base in Victoria.

Now… this is where we get to the giveaway part… The Redback Trading Co is generously offering followers of The Spring the chance to win a $100 gift certificate to use on their site and you can choose ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING YOU WANT! All you have to do is head on over to their shop, see what you like, and tell us all about it in the comments section below. A winner will be drawn at random in two weeks. (There’s a good chance I’ll actually use little bits of paper stored in a mason jar to determine the draw.) You’ll get extra entries for including in your message how you follow The Spring, tweeting about the giveaway and liking us on facebook.) Sorry international readers, but this one is for Australian residents only!

the Ball mason jars with the name across the front are fantastic! My mum and I used to preserve things in mason jars when I was younger, they remind me a bit of home. Love them. What a great Prize too, thanks the Redback Trading Co.!

Sorry Raspberry Kitsch, this giveaway is for Australian residents only (as I don’t think Redback ships overseas). The next giveaway I have planned in open to everyone internationally, so keep checking back!

Nope… don’t miss the snow at all! I’m Canadian, but I was living in Cambridge UK for the past four years before coming to Australia. Thanks for following!

I’ve started growing some food on my back deck and have visions of making homemade lemon curd and passionfruit preserves…if my little plants ever produce! The Redback kit that comes with the jars, lids, book, and pot would be ideal for me. I agree there is nothing like pretty mason jars to make a gorgeous pantry!

Lady, posts like these are among the few things that make me look forward to post nomadic life! Wouldn’t it be unreal to earn a dispensable income from blogging; we could all stay at home all day, arting and crafting, doing endless d.i.y’s, taking photos of sweet nothing, ride our bicycles, cook beautiful food…. one can only dream!

I often find myself just perusing your blog admiringly, you’ve done such a wonderful job Catherine!!

I’d never heard of the Redback Trading Co., so thanks for pointing us in that direction. I make ribs that everyone in my family loves (my recipe at my blog in case anyone’s interested: http://nothingbyno-one.blogspot.com/2011/09/cooking-with-no-one-spicy-pork-ribs.html ), and I would love to try them using the smoker. Which I think I’ll go ahead and buy. I also love cast iron cookware.

This is a great giveaway. I would love the Ball Collection Elite Preserves Jars. I would use them to put my Grandma’s secret christmas pudding ingredients in and give it away to friends as a special christmas treat, so they can make their own pudding, without me giving Grandma’s secrets away ;)
I follow you via bloglovin, just did a special little tweet just for you and am about to like you on facebook!

It’s good to share the blog-love!

What a little gem the Redback Trading Co. is! I would like to make it my life’s ambition to only own glass food storage containers. Because let’s face it – tupperware/plastic/chemicals? YUCK.
Just Liked you on FB!
