Treasure Trove

by Catherine on September 9, 2011

Since I don’t have the drawer space or discipline to keep my dressing area uncluttered, I find it’s best to turn my magpie’s eye  free and make a feature of my baubles. This antique folding tea tray is the jewellery display method du jour, and I found it at a vintage shop in West End for a measly $10! Throwing on the perfect accessories is much easier when everything is visible; Since I’ve finally been able to unpack all my treasures from my travel case I’ve even discovered some forgotten favourites, like the vintage brooches and big ’80s statement hoops.

Hello dear,
So nice to read your posts, I’m from Brisbane and I love the way you write about it, it makes me miss home :) Particularly West End, but a rad part of the world!
Regarding my blog, I don’t have a dehydrator, I travel so it’s not really viable for me. Instead, we have a gas oven here and the restaurant so I just leave the food in their OVERNIGHT with the just the pilot light on. I would say it would be about…. 35ish degrees in there. If you have a normal stove, try it with the lowest temp possible for as long as you can manage without feeling unsafe that your oven has been on for ages.

Happy uncooking!

What a fabulous find and in West End! I always find the op shops there so hard to find anything in. All the good things go soooo quickly!

It’s a perfect dresser addition. Love it!

West End can be really picked over – I went early on a Saturday morning and was able to find a few great things around the charity shops… but this was the only one that ‘fit’. Perhaps the stores put their new stock out Friday night in anticipation of the weekend rush? It’s always worth asking the shops what their re-stocking schedule is.
