There are a lot of things I love about road trips. Hitting the highway on a sunny day with a stacked playlist, full picnic hamper, and hours of beautiful scenery flying by gives me a real sense of getting away from it all, especially when I don’t have to do all the driving. But my favourite part has got to be hanging around charming old country towns. On this trip I fell for Maryborough (home of the author of Mary Poppins – betcha didn’t know that!) and Childers (home of lots of sugar cane and fruit-picking backpackers). These historically minded communities boast some well preserved colonial architecture, grandiose pubs, lovely parks for stretching your legs, and a host of well-stocked vintage and charity shops to poke around in. Yes sir, lovely little towns you got here!
