I’m a person who likes lists. Especially at the grocery store. Because forgetting the key ingredient for tomorrow night’s dinner is very very annoying. Especially when the grocery store is a 10 minute drive away and you still can’t use the stick shift confidently. The problem when you share a home and fridge with more than just yourself is that it’s not always easy to keep up to date with what’s stocked and what’s not. To be fair, our system for keeping tabs for the weekly shop has always been flawed. Mr. Spring would call out something like “we’re low on cashews” while I was watching tv, and I’d pretend to listen, then forget to buy them three or four days later. But this has all changed now that the kitchen chalk board is up and running {which is why this DIY is in contention for the most useful project ever prize}. It was cheap too. Following these steps I transformed an old $5 charity shop framed picture {yes, you can spray chalk board paint straight onto glass, and it gives a smooth, perfect finish! Just don’t forget to cure the dry paint by rubbing chalk over it}. Now, the grocery list is always up-to-date since we make note of what’s run out in real time. {Used the last drop of olive oil? Write it on the board!} There’s also room for notes-to-selves like ‘water the plants’ and ‘put butter out to soften’ as well as lovely messages for a little levity among the chores.
Chalk it up

Love it!! I am totally stealing this idea! would look awesome with an extravagant antique frame too!
Ahh finally, I’ve been waiting a while for this post
It looks great and is also practical! As our kitchen is almost finished i think i’ll be on the look out for an old mirror to do something similar.
